Jay Lethal wants Black Machismo to come to AEW

Jay Lethal has expressed interest in recruiting Black Machismo to AEW.

Lethal originated the part during his time with TNA and has continued to play it ever since. However, “Black Machismo” has not yet debuted in AEW.

Prior to the record-breaking AEW All In show, Lethal had a conversation with Muscleman Malcolm.

“”Despite the absence of Wembley, I find my time at AEW to be both a privilege and an honor. Ultimately, “we’ve sold out,” as Jay Lethal put it. To say that this is significant in the annals of wrestling is an understatement.

I read somewhere that we sold the most tickets of any wrestling show at Wembley Stadium, so that’s really fantastic. Just crazy. Wow, what a tale! Performing Black Machismo there is the only thing that could improve the situation.

Jay Lethal reflects on the roots of black masculinity.
Lethal also explained the historical context of Black Machismo. The advice of Kevin Nash to act like “Macho Man” Randy Savage on television had stuck with him.

The ‘Macho Man’ voice came naturally to me, so I used it every time I changed clothes in the locker room. As Kevin Nash put it after hearing it once: “Dude, why don’t you do that on TV?” Wow, that’s totally awesome! Well, I didn’t want to be ridiculed, I reasoned. I would hate for it to seem like I was poking fun of ‘Macho Man.’ Two, I aspire to compete like a genuine wrestler. When I asked him about it, he said, “Well, once you get over all that, you’ll have fun in this business.” After we talked for a bit, I was able to overcome my fear of appearing foolish thanks to his advice. Since we’re all mature guys acting like boys in our underpants, this shouldn’t be too difficult.

It’ll be a lot of fun for you then. The essential contribution, then, came from Kevin Nash. Also, he added, “Look, nobody’s even mentioning the “Macho Man” right now. People wouldn’t stop talking about him and the ‘Macho Man’ moniker would benefit if you did that. I remember that one quite clearly. So I said to myself, “Okay, sure. We need to get on that. From then on, I was completely on board.
